The product is used to synchronize the date and time of devices connected to an Ethernet network (PLCs, PCs,...) with Universal Time (UTC)

 

Devices synchronize their clocks using the NTP V3 protocol. (Network Time Protocol)

 

The GPS Time Server is connected to the **atomic cesium** standard nist.datum.com through the GPS satellite system.

 

Connectivity is provided via a 10baseT Ethernet port, RJ45 connector.

 

The main part of the device is housed in a *DIN Rail* box, suitable for mounting in a cabinet. It accepts a DC 9..24V power supply. The GPS receiver with antenna is housed in an external **waterproof** IP-65 box.

 

The connection between the GPS receiver and the server is made via a standard twisted pair cable. Maximum cable length 100m.

 

A website allows monitoring and setup of network variables.

 

NTP Ver3 is supported in Client - Server mode, **NTP Broadcasting** is also supported.

Tested with Siemens S7, ET200S, S71200 PLCs. Optimal system for keeping clocks synchronized in complex control systems.

**Activating NTP for time synchronization in a Siemens PLC**

Time synchronization via NTP is set for CPUs in the hardware configuration of STEP 7. To activate, go to the Properties dialog box of the Industrial Ethernet CP. In the Time Synchronization tab, activate the function "Enable time synchronization using the NTP method." In the "NTP server addresses" field, also enter the addresses of the corresponding NTP server.

**Important:**The NTP method does not support automatic switching between standard time and daylight saving time. This is not provided for in the protocol. Local time must be adjusted accordingly. NTP always transmits Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) or Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
