GAA-YX-145144: SINUMERIK 840D Gateway to OPC UA and MQTT (Industry 4.0)

The gateway allows reading complete machine tool data from SINUMERIK 840D. It provides access to the NC part with its axis, tool, program, and drive data, as well as specific alarms. Furthermore, a connection to the integrated SIMATIC Siemens S7 can be established. Data from both connections are available via OPC UA and MQTT interfaces and can therefore be used for various Industry 4.0 applications.

With uaGate 840D, important spindle and axis data, such as torque and energy consumption, can be read and reused in various applications. Additionally, the active program, subroutines, and currently used tool are accessible. For example, this data is available for condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, data logging, or analysis tasks, such as spindle and axis monitoring. The gateway can also be used to acquire data from older SINUMERIK 840D controllers. Due to the pre-configured data symbol file for the standard use case based on one channel, three axes, and one spindle, the user does not require specific SINUMERIK know-how for data reading.

The product can be simply mounted next to the SINUMERIK NCU on a DIN rail and requires a 24 V DC power supply. It features two independent Ethernet interfaces, one addressed to the machine and the other addressed to the IT network. Between these, the gateway acts as a firewall. Configuration is performed in a few clicks using any web browser and the integrated web server.
