APA-1 vehicle power adapter with overvoltage protection and other safety features to protect your LtAP and other devices from harsh vehicle environments.

Faulty car battery, cable coupling, jump start, or even just turning on the AC unit: annoying voltage spikes can occur anywhere, anytime! The built-in gas discharge tube is an elegant and smart solution. Normally, this gas, fixed inside a small glass tube, does not conduct electricity. However, when high voltage is applied, the gas ionizes, allowing a new low-resistance path for the excess voltage. Excess voltage that otherwise could have fried your devices!

Another layer of protection is the TVS: semiconductor transient voltage suppressor. This combination of layers protects devices from extreme voltage spikes. We have also added active polarity protection, so your devices remain safe even if you accidentally apply power in reverse. Additionally, there is an integrated low-pass filter to block all unwanted pulses and a standard fuse for added protection.

The output voltage can be easily changed via the jumper position, but there is also a pass-through mode in case voltage regulation is not needed. Remember: preventing a crisis is always cheaper than solving it!
