Description
Quad-core power for Revolution Pi! Grab the RevPi Core 3 - equipped with the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3 - if you need high performance to get your tasks done. The Broadcom multi-core processor has enough power for complex tasks like image processing. A customized Raspbian with an RT patch is pre-installed.
The power supply circuit is one of the most important parts of the RevPi Core. In order to achieve the lowest possible heat from power dissipation, we are using high-efficiency DC-DC converters (overall efficiency is above 80%). These converters use a 24 VDC input (which is the usual case in industrial applications) to produce all necessary supply voltages for the Core.
But our Core module not only works in the standardized supply range of 20.4 V to 28.8 V, but also works with an input voltage of only 10.2 V*. This means you can also use car batteries or solar panels as a power supply. At 24 V input, any power loss up to 10 ms will not affect the operation of the RevPi Core (drawing full current from both USB ports) and even up to 25 ms without USB load. The input voltage and functional earth are connected to the RevPi Core via heavy-duty connectors on the bottom side.
A sophisticated protection circuit ensures continuous operation even in case of massive electrical or electromagnetic interference on the input supply lines (provided the functional earth is properly connected). Lightning strikes and nearby welding machines have been simulated in our test labs but could not impress our RevPi Core modules.
In addition, the Revolution Pi has a Real Time Clock with 24 hours of buffering, which ensures that the device always knows what time it is, even in the event of a power failure.
