The Z-KEY-2ETH IEC 61850 is a Modbus<->IEC 61850 gateway that allows integration between the Modbus protocol, used in industrial contexts for communication between devices such as PLCs, sensors, and actuators, and the IEC 61850 standard, designed for communication in electrical substations and energy automation systems. Equipped with two serial ports and two Ethernet ports, the Z-KEY-2ETH IEC 61850 acts as a translator between the two protocols, allowing Modbus-based devices to communicate with IEC 61850-compliant systems. This is particularly useful in energy automation applications, where secure, reliable communication and interoperability between control and protection devices in substations are essential. The gateway allows integrating existing Modbus infrastructures with modern IEC 61850 systems, supporting real-time data collection, processing, and distribution for advanced monitoring and control of electrical grids, thereby improving the efficiency and safety of energy processes.

Note: KEY series devices support up to a single IEC 61850 client. To interact with multiple clients simultaneously, EDGE TWS or PASS Series devices can be used.
